Your Community - Your Impact

What Does Community Mean to YOU?

For most people, it’s not just your city or your neighborhood, or the people with children in the same school as yours.  It’s more important than geography or a building – it’s about the interests and values you share – a place where you participate in activities with people you care about.

Community is important because it’s where we trust each other: Your place of worship, your school or little league team, your coffee shop and your hardware store.  What other places do you see in your community?  Do you see a food shelf, the children’s hospital, the breast cancer 10K or the animal care shelter?  What about the ones you feel good about like youth counseling services?  Chances are if you know about any of these nonprofit organizations, you have a connection whether it’s physical, mental, emotional or otherwise.  Chances are somebody else does too which means you’re in the same community.

What Are Some Nonprofits You Support?

Think about what it means to have organizations like those and so many others in our community.  It almost seems like there is a nonprofit organization for nearly every need we can imagine.  For many of us, volunteering for our favorite nonprofit is the highlight of our day, week, month or year!  Being able to give financially to them is the cherry on top!  What other financial decision gives you that feel-good feeling?  How about spending $500 on an unexpected car repair and wondering if you’ll make the mortgage payment this month?  Nope.

Did you know that when you give your time and treasure for the benefit of others, a hormone called Dopamine is released in your body?  Dopamine sends signals in the brain often associated with pleasure; for example, eating your favorite food boosts your dopamine and makes you happy.  You want to have more!  According to neuroscience experts, when you give (charitably) financially, the powerful emotions associated with that act cause the Dopamine to remain active in your body for a longer time.

What a wonderful way to chase the blues away – doing good brings good to others – and makes us feel good too!  Helping others in our community builds bridges of trust and creates a path to compassion.  We need more compassion in our community, and we humbly suggest NetGiver is the bridge to build your trust on.  If you are already one of our donors, thank you so much!  You know the value you receive through our service:

  1. A secure app to give safely and easily to your favorite causes.

  2. No fee or surcharge to Give FreelyTM

  3. The Dopamine is included!

If you’ve been with us a while, you know that we occasionally have matching campaigns with our credit union partners.  That’s the simplest form of flattery – they love you and our community so much that they want to support the same nonprofits that you do.  For those who are new to NetGiver, we say, “Try it, you’ll like it!”  Using Financial Technology to validate your identity and link to your financial institution securely, we’ve opened up a whole new way to feel good about giving again.  For the same three reasons listed above, you will enjoy the ability to sign on to one universal account, choose your favorite organizations and track your giving history.  No more writing checks, paying for stamps, mailing the envelopes and waiting (waiting…waiting…) to see if the check was cashed.  With NetGiver, the organization gets the funds quickly, they can start using it right away, and you don’t have to keep looking to see if they got it or not.
